Annecy 2026 Shorts Annecy 2026 Shorts

The 2026 festival circuit is taking shape as Annecy, the world’s oldest and leading animation festival, unveils its short film competition lineups.

This year’s films include several established names. Hisko Hulsing will present Danse macabre, while Don Hertzfeldt returns with Paper Trail. Georges Schwizgebel brings The Picture of Dorian Gray, Koji Yamamura screens The Spring Sea, and Elizabeth Hobbs debuts The Daughters of the Late Colonel, to name just a few.

While many titles will make their festival debuts at Annecy, several arrive with high-profile recognition from other top fests. James A. Castillo’s The Quinta’s Ghost was shortlisted for this year’s Academy Awards after premiering at Tribeca, Acid City stood out at Rotterdam in February, and Anna Ginsburg’s Hag picked up two awards following its SXSW premiere.

There is plenty to unpack at first glance, but the 2026 lineup appears as vibrant and diverse as audiences have come to expect from Annecy.

New this year, all of the selected titles from the Midnight Shorts and WTF sections will now compete for official awards for the first time.
