José Luis Moro Escalona, who ran one of Spain's leading commercial animation studios and created the iconic Familia Telerín, died yesterday in Madrid at the age of 88.

Part of the package was attending Woolie Reitherman's marathon story sessions, which often left me drained and dazed. Nickelodeon is making a concerted effort to promote its renewed dedication to creativity at its animation studio. This week, they will open an art exhibit, “Butt What Is Art? A Sanjay and Craig Fine Art Retrospective,” at California State University, Fullerton’s Atrium Gallery (Pollak Library). The exhibit will focus on art created for, and inspired by, the series about an Indian boy and his talking snake:

Michael Sporn, A Passionate Film Director, RIP

Animator and filmmaker Michael Sporn, a man who represented the spirit and vitality of New York's animation scene as much as any other single individual, passed away from pancreatic cancer on January 19. He was 67.

Many, many mini desserts!” Both DeMicco ("Racing Stripes," "Space Chimps") and Chris Sanders ("Lilo & Stitch," "How to Train Your Dragon") are in New York to take part in a presentation on the making of "The Croods," the animated film that they directed for Dreamworks earlier this year, which went on to gross nearly $600 million worldwide.
