Pixar has promoted Inside Out and Toy Story 4 producer Jonas Rivera to executive vp of film production.
Details of the promotion:
- According to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news of Rivera’s promotion, the executive will now handle oversight of all film and streaming production at Pixar as the company continues to expand its feature and series offerings.
- Rivera and Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter will operate as two sides of the same coin at the studio. Producers, associate producers, and directors of production will report to Rivera regarding operational issues, while Docter will handle creative oversight.
- Rivera heads a slate spotlighted at last weekend’s D23 Expo. There, Pixar revealed its new feature Elio, a new still and casting information for Elemental, and further details about the studio’s first-ever original longform series Win or Lose, which will be available to stream on Disney+ in 2023.
- Rivera is a true Pixar original. He started with the company in 1994 as a production assistant, where he worked on the original Toy Story He rose through the ranks working on features such as A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc., and Cars. With Up, he was promoted to producer and has filled that role on several films since, including Inside Out and Toy Story 4.
